Volunteer Information

We need you!

Parent participation is an important factor in the success of the MPHS Band program and a key way to help your student get the most out of their band experience. There are many volunteer opportunities available within the MPHS Band Program.

Marching Band Volunteers

First Aid First aid parents are present at Marching Band practices, home and away football games and travel with the Lionhearts to competitions.

Football: 50/50 Raffle — During home games, two-parent teams sell raffle tickets on the home side, and on select games, on the visitor side. Sales begin before the game around 6:30 as fans begin arriving and continue up to five minutes before the half ends. The drawing is held and announced after the band's half-time show. We sell in three shifts: pre-game, first quarter, and second quarter. One member of each team must be a cleared volunteer.

Football: Hydration Crew — The hydration crew helps keep the Lionhearts hydrated in the stands during football games. Coolers are filled at the Water and Ice store and brought to home and away games where volunteers pass out cups of water and keep them refilled during the game. The cups and pitchers are washed by a member of the crew after each game.

Football: Bus Chaperones — Two cleared volunteers are needed to accompany the students on the bus ride to away games.

Football: Bleacher Seat Covers — Bleacher seat covers are put on the seats at football games to protect the uniforms from dirt and wear and tear. We need someone to put the covers down before the games, remove them after games and be sure they are put back in the cases and returned to the band room.

Pit Crew - Our Percussion Parents will take charge of the Equipment Truck, loading and unloading, and getting the instruments out onto the field at every away game.  Any parents may sign up to help!

All Band Volunteers

Concert: Concession Sales — Cleared volunteers are needed to sell concessions from 6:30–7 p.m. for all Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble and Jazz Band concert performances in the Mountain Pointe Auditorium.

ABODA Regionals -

If our school hosts ABODA Regionals, we need volunteers to help run the concession table throughout the day, plus lots of donations. Please consider donating your time or concessions to sale!

NOTE: The Tempe Union High School District requires individuals who wish to volunteer be cleared by going through an application process and background check. There is more information and a link to frequently asked questions regarding volunteers on the Mountain Pointe High School home page.

Visit the TUHSD Website for more information and to fill out an application. If you were cleared to be a volunteer last year, your name is still on the list of cleared volunteers and you will not need to go through the process again this year.

NOTE: The MPHS Band Boosters do provide a blanket liability coverage insurance for all booster volunteers. We do ask that each band family pay $10 to help cover the cost of the insurance. Please note that students are covered through the district separately.
