2014 Band Camp Reminders

Here are a few reminders as we look forward to the start of the 2014 Lionhearts Marching Band season in July:

Band Camp Dates — July 21–25 and July 28–Aug. 1 from 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. every day, plus from 6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday evenings 

Season Preview Show — All band families are invited to the Season Preview Show and kick-off dinner on Aug. 2 at 5:00 p.m. in the Mountain Pointe Auditorium.

Lunch — Students will eat lunch each day on campus in the auditorium lobby. They should bring sufficient meal and snack food with them each day, along with AMPLE fluids (water, Gatorade, juice — NO soda or energy drinks). 

Hydration — Students are responsible for bringing enough water to remain hydrated during the day. Water fountains are available for refills, but water bottles will not be provided, so students should bring their own full containers for hydration each day.

Weather — This is an outdoor activity, so be prepared for the sun and heat each day. This means comfortable clothing, sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses. Time in the heat will be carefully planned, regulated, and staggered throughout the rehearsal time, but EACH STUDENT is responsible for being prepared for this.

Dinner — On Tuesdays and Thursdays students will be allowed to leave campus for the dinner break, but their transportation is solely the responsibility of their parents. Students riding with anyone other than their guardians are expected to arrange for it privately. The Director and staff are not responsible for transportation during this break period. Students are welcome to remain on campus during dinner break if need be, as an adult staff member will always be present.

Physicals — District policy has changed and students are no longer required to have a physical to participate in marching band. You are welcome to do so if you wish. For those students who have any type of medical concern, a physical should still be taken and consultation made with the Director. The forms can still be found at school with Marie in the Activities Office.
